Wood-burning generates potentially significant emissions of atmospheric pollutants, notably fine particles (PM), carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

As far as we know, these emissions vary considerably depending on whether the installation is individual, collective or industrial. What's more, the environmental and energy performance of different technologies (Flamme Verte versus old-fashioned appliances) varies widely.
The quality and humidity of the wood used also influence emission levels.

Airparif is not mandated to manage the nuisances associated with the use of wood heating and the related regulations.
